Meet Dora! She embraced her crafty creativity and vast pop culture knowledge in August 2020 when she first began selling her wares to our local Cincinnati community. Friends had suggested that she try selling her creations, so she purchased a vendor booth at Westwood Second Saturdays, a lovely outdoor art show.

The Story of Understandably Cliché

It started off slowly, but gained momentum as my pixel art and nerdy crafts caught the eye of fellow fans and collectors. From the very first event, seeing someone’s eyes light up when they recognize a character "in the wild" has been the best part of this journey. Whether it’s a kid with pocket money or a serious collector looking for that perfect shelf piece, my goal is to make something that brings a bit of whimsy to your space.

The Process: Low-Res, High-Quality
Everything sold by Understandably Cliché is made by hand in my home studio. I spend hours mapping out patterns and fine-tuning color palettes to make sure every character looks exactly right before the bead assembly begins. Getting the colors just right is a bit of an obsession—then comes the melting stage. I use a high level of scrutiny during ironing to make sure the image quality, albeit low-resolution, is perfectly fused, durable, and flat.

From Magnets to Masterpieces
My inventory is always changing based on what I’m currently geeked out about. I offer everything from small magnets and keychains for your fridge or locker to large-scale acrylic paintings and decorative display pieces for your "man cave," dorm room, or gallery wall. Recently, I’ve been expanding into more interactive and themed items, like my D&D-inspired potion sets and a "gacha" machine filled with surprise capsules.

Looking Ahead
After a busy few years at events like the Cincinnati Comic Expo, Anime Ohio, and the Harvest Home Fair, I’m heading into the 2026 season with more experience and a lot of new ideas. I’m always taking suggestions to heart and seeking to improve my stock with niche items you won't find anywhere else.

I am always open to commissions for custom orders! Follow my social media pages to see where I’ll be vending next, or stop by the booth to grab a business card and say hi. Thank you for supporting a local maker and helping me keep the momentum going!
